expression 和 expressions 有什么区别

expressions是expression的复数形式。

在不同意义时如何使用其单复数：

一、表达；表述

1、如果表示的是表述或表达的动作，用不可数形式；如果指带情感内容的表述用复数

2、

（1）the rights of the individual to freedom of expression个人的言论自由权

（2）Her concern has now found expression in the new environmental protection act.现在，她所关注的问题已在新的环境保护法案中得以表达。

3、上面的两个例子： 

（1）freedom of expression对自由权的表达(指表达的动作，而不是指表达了什么内容

（2）expression in the new environmental protection act在新的环境保护法案中得以表达(指表达的动作，具体表达什么内容不清楚。

4、（1）From Cairo came expressions of regret at the attack.开罗对此次攻击表示遗憾。

（2）Laughter is one of the most infectious expressions of emotion.是最具感染力的情感表达方式之一。

5、上面的两个例子：

（1）expressions of regret表达了遗憾之情(涉及到具体表达的内容是遗憾，因此用复数)

（2）expressions of emotion表达了情感(涉及到具体哪些情感内容，因此用复数)

二、表情；神情

1、如果指具体的喜怒哀乐等表情，用可数单数；抽象说表情、神情，用不可数。

2、

（1）The face is entirely devoid of expression.脸上完全没有表情。

（2）Levin sat there, an expression of sadness on his face.莱文坐在那里，神情悲伤。

三、措词；说法

1、这个意义一般用可数复数。

2、She spoke in a quiet voice but used remarkably coarse expressions.她说话声音很小，但是用了些特别粗俗的字眼儿。
